CAMDENTON, Missouri, October 12, 2018 – The Camdenton VFW held its first weekly Queen of Hearts drawing on Thursday, October 12, 2018. Queen of Hearts drawings are quickly becoming a very popular game across the country and a great fundraising tool for eligible non-profit organizations. Many players drive hours to have a shot at a potentially big payday. A VFW outside of Chicago recently saw it’s jackpot grow to 7.2 million dollars. The more tickets that are sold and the more weeks that no one pulls the queen of hearts, the bigger and bigger jackpots can get.

The way the game works is the players buy raffle tickets for a weekly drawing. The person whose ticket is drawn gets to pick a card from the board. The cards are kept inside numbered envelopes on a locked board. If the card selected is the queen of hearts, the player wins the jackpot. But if another card is drawn, the player gets a smaller prize and the game continues the next week with what’s left of the deck. The progressive jackpot grows each week if no Queen of Hearts is drawn.

Camdenton VFW’s drawing is held every Thursday at their canteen. The public is welcome to purchase tickets and attend the drawings. Doors open at 5:00 PM and tickets sales sharply end at 6:30 PM. After the drawing at 7:00 PM, tickets for next week’s drawing again go on sale. VFW Post 5923 invites and encourages everyone who participates tickets to attend the Queen of Hearts drawings, as the prize is better if the winner is present. Food and beverage are available for purchase.

Over 800 of the dollar tickets were sold for the first week’s drawing. The winner of drawing selected the #6 envelope. Inside the selected envelope was the 7 of Clubs, so the prize was $10 because the winner was present and the pot rolls on to next week.
